Quick shell question

#1

Can anyone recommend a quick and easy way to identify the largest files I have on my account? I’ve played around with du for a little while but it isnt quite working the way I hoped.

My panel says I have about 290mgs I cant account for by recollection. I want to find whats using that space. Basically im looking for a quick shell command and switches that will allow me to list out lets say the top 10 files or directories or something like that.

I could be going at this the wrong way so ill take any suggestion.

also remember that out of that 290mb is your emails.

They are accounted for. Unless there are backups somewhere. Good thought though

On the shell for the account in question, do:

du -k | sort -rn | head -10

That should get you what you’re looking for.

Thank you that did it for me.
