Question about TOS

#1

Hardware upgrades to an existing ‘platform’ (platform defined as a motherboard/chassis combination) will be performed by DreamHost and shall incur an additional one-time labor fee of $100 as well as an increase to Customer’s standard monthly rate.

i have to pay if something breaks?

The section you quoted is for Dedicated Server hosting. Are you thinking of signing up for that? I’d guess that once you’re on a dedicated server, if you request to be upgraded to their latest hardware platform, you’d incur that charge.

If you’re getting a regular shared hosting plan, that clause does not apply.

They’re Dreamhost coupons!

Not at all. If something were to ‘break’ then Dreamhost pay for it

The text you’re referring to is for dedicated server customers who want to upgrade their servers to higher specs.
