Problems with Extra Web Security option enabled

wordpress

Hi everyone

I hope someone might be able to help me out here. I’m looking after a friend’s website and there is a problem that I’m not sure how to resolve.

When the Extra Web Security option is enabled for the domain it becomes difficult for visitors to the site to leave comments. When you click on the link to logon to leave a comment a redirect URL is created which should take the visitor the logon page and then on to the blog entry they wish to comment on. Here is an example URL

http://www.brucepercy.co.uk/blog/wp-login.php?redirect_to=http://www.brucepercy.co.uk/blog/2014/01/27/behind-the-mountains-fjallaland/

The site visitor will get an error 503 message.

If I disable the Extra Web Security option then the URL redirections work and the visitor gets taken to the logon page and once they logon they are taken back to the blog entry they want to comment on.

I suspect I need to look at doing something with .htaccess? However I’m not really sure what I would need to do.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks
Chris

I would guess the stop-spammer-registrations-plugin or bm-custom-login is tripping up mod_security (which is what that checkbox is for)
