Pretty URLs with MediaWiki

apps

#1

I installed MediaWiki using the one click install in the control panel, and set it up so that the files were put in a folder off of my domain. I am trying to get the pretty URLs to work. Neither the instructions from the User’s guide or the instructions in the DreamHost wiki work. When I try to access the main page, I get this error - “No input file specified.” Has anyone got this working properly and if so could you please post a solution?

Wow, what a coincidence. I was just getting on here to ask this exact same question. Sorry I don’t have an answer for you, but I would also be very interested to know how to make this work.

Aha! Progress! I turned off php as a cgi and then used the instructions posted by iwein at the knowledge base -
https://panel.dreamhost.com/kbase/index.cgi?area=2933&keyword=php cgi
and it worked!

I am going to turn the php as a cgi thing back on again and see if it still works.

I’m having this same problem. I’ve tried following the same steps as you described but I’m having no luck. I can’t imagine what I’m missing. Any other suggestions or help from others out there?

One other thing… I tried the instructions here (http://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/MediaWiki) and that didn’t help either.

I got it working successfully by following iwein’s instuctions at the knowledge base…

Have you tried that yet? If it works for you I think it’d be better to add this to the Dreamhost wiki as well.
