I was trying to implement a PHP script that reads posted information from a form and outputs it to a text-delimited file. I get a “Permission Denied” error at the line in the PHP script that opens the text file for writing.

How would I go about granting permission for writing to this file?

Usually you can just right-click on the file in your favorite FTP client and then change the permissions (CHMOD) to allow Write access. Otherwise, you can use Telnet to do it.

Yea, I had tried this…and it didn’t work. I heard that DreamHost does not allow any writing permissions on their server accounts. Is this correct?

If they don’t, then I must be hosted by someone else. Try setting the file’s permissions to 755 (CHMOD 755).
