PHP maximum execution time and memory allocation

Is there a way that I can modify the maximum memory allocation and/or maximum execution time for my PHP, either from within the script or using my own php.ini?

I’m using PHP to serve Flash videos from a certain timestamp on, meaning that the PHP script needs to slice up a file and serve that to the user. Right now, this only works for videos up to a certain filesize. Videos from an unspecified size up, will generate an Internal Server Error.

Thanks for any assistance anyone has to offer.
