Php, fcgi, apache, 302's, rediretcs, etc

software development

Hey Everybody,

I have some scripts that I have been running on DH for a long time.

The setup is always the same:
live site on the main domain -
test site in a sub domain. -
on both sites, management features are in a subdir. - /manage/

htaccess for the management area has RewriteBase /manage/
and directoryIndex index.php and is set up to processes php.

AddHandler fastcgi-script fcg fcgi fpl
AddHandler php-fastcgi .php
Action php-fastcgi /cgi-bin/dispatch.fcgi
AddType application/x-httpd-php .htm .html

This time, I used the lazy man php ini script because I’m not a putty person and it takes me forever to re-train myself to do the other php.ini install.

phpinfo shows the changes I make and appears to work fine.

2 major issues:
I can’t get redirects to process properly. For instance, my login page always posts back to itself no matter where I tell it to post to.
headers show that if it is pushed to the index, I get a 302, and it bounces back and forth a couple of times and ends up back at the referrer. Occasional 500’s too. When I look at the error log for the 500, it always shows:

(104)Connection reset by peer: FastCGI: comm with server “/home/username/” aborted: read failed, referer:
FastCGI: incomplete headers (0 bytes) received from server “/home/username/”, referer:

Other thing is that sessions don’t work properly and I start a new session with every page load. Sessions are stored in a Db with a session handler. Cookie domain is set to “”. Sessions are started - lots of them! But dropped every time. I’m assuming this is related to the above problem.

Any guidance would be appreciated.
