Phantom(?) livejournal hits

#1

I’m getting a lot of hits on an image directory from several hundred livejournal URLs of the form:

http://voland.livejournal.com/friends

I allow this particular hotlinking, but in attempting to determine who’s looking and what they’re saying, I’m not finding the images or URLs referring to my site.

Is this a livejournal thing? Is it possible that DH is directing somebody else’s hits to my access logs?

Any other possibilities?

Did you look at your access logs?

Yes, that’s where I got them. I grepped all hits on the files in question from all access logs from 11/1/06 - 12/12/06

Unless we are talking about some sort of faked referrer, I cannot think what might be causing that.

They are probably legitimate referrers but because of how friends pages work you might not be able to see the message with the image. You need to try and look for a referrer from the actual post which would be in the form:

-or-

community.livejournal.com/somegroupname/123456.html

If the message is not locked you’ll be able to read it.

Thanks. This seems to be it
