Passenger Flask_socketIO working?

Team,

It works perfectly on my local laptop but on when doing the same on my (shared) Dreamhost it fails.

Has anyone been able to get Passenger/Python with Flask_socketIO working?
(shared hosting).

These error messages appear when WS messages come in. So the server does send them.

Browser console:

“The connection to wss://my.subdomain.com/socket.io/?EIO=4&transport=websocket&sid=XrJtAopRhcxQQQzaAQAE was interrupted while the page was loading.”

and

“The connection to wss://my.subdomain.com/socket.io/?EIO=4&transport=websocket&sid=XrJtAopRhcxQQQzaAQAE was interrupted while the page was loading.”

I don’t think you can directly use wss:// protocol (i.e. web socket on port 443) on DreamHost’s shared servers. You might be able to setup the work-around mentioned in this thread – basically running WebSocket on an un-reserved port like 8080:

Thank you @habilis! It’s a shame this can’t be done with just Python but thank you for sharing this info!
