Only files with PHP extensions show up

We recently moved our website to Dreamhost and also went from PHP to static web pages at the same time – since I maintain the site and I don’t know PHP (plus PHP was overkill for our purposes). But HTML files, when HTM or HTML is used as the extension, don’t display properly, at least in Safari on my Mac; the html CODE shows up on the page. Only files that use the PHP extension render properly. I’ve tried checking the info/properties of the main folder, but don’t see anything I can change. Does anyone have any insight into this? It’s driving me crazy!

Sounds like you’ve got an .htaccess file which overrides the default behavior of sending files with “.htm” and “.html” extensions as the text/html content type.
