Not able to add dns sub domain

#1

Don’t know if this is normal, but I just tried adding a subdomain: dns.mydomain.eu

Didn’t work. I kept getting the error “Can’t add domain: already configured in system.”. Then I tried another subdomain, dev.mydomain.eu, and it did work.

So, is dns a “reserved” name, which you can’t use?

It would appear so. I just tried to add a ‘dns’ sub-domain to one of my test domains with the same result as you.

It’s strange that the ‘dns’ sub-domain seems to be reserved, but doesn’t come up in the DNS records listed for the domain in the panel.

Hi

it’s not that unusual, I’ve had this same problem a few times before and it seems that the DNS system of some hosts have this set as a reserved subdomain, most likely to prevent internal routing problems.
