Need mod_proxy on vps

#1

I need to use mod_proxy on a vps. Is this something that I have to install? If so, how do I go about doing that.

You can set up mod_proxy on your VPS from within the panel:

https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=domain.proxy

That won’t work for me. I need to use the [P] flag with mod-rewrite…I upgraded to a VPS specially because your support said that is what I had to do in order to use it.

mod_proxy is always loaded on VPS and dedicated servers. If you just need [P], you should be able to use it without any special setup.

Ok I have an htaccess that looks like this:

RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /

RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^mydomain.com
RewriteRule (.) http://www.mydomain.com/$1 [R=301,L]
RewriteRule ^(.
) http://devdomain.com/$1 [P,L]

But it isn’t working.
Thanks!!

OK got it working. I think it was actually a problem related to it still resolving the name to the shared hosting acct.
