Mysql timezone

software development

#1

I am in New York and Dreamhost would appear to be in California. I don’t suppose there’s any way a regular shared hosting customer can set mysql’s timezone, is there? Or do I have to programmatically compute the offset etc etc? Or avoid using NOW()?

Thanks.

Answer to my own question: run the SQL statement

SET time_zone=‘US/Eastern’

before you do anything else with your MySQL connection.

I should’ve RTFM first but maybe this will help someone else some day.
