MySQL Access from outside DreamHost

software development

#1

I’m having trouble accessing the database from outside the network (works fine if I ssh in, but not when I’m running it from our development environment).

What do I need to do to open up access? Is this something where I need to upgrade to the VPN account? It’s making it very difficult to test if I have to move everything over to the site in order to run a PHP script that uses the database.

Thx,

Tac

You can grant permission to an IP, range of IP, hostname, or range of hostnames from the web panel. There are some recent discussions on this very forum on the same subject.

The permission is granted on a per-user basis, so edit the user you want to allow access from the Goodies -> MySQL tab.
