Moving from Dreamhost to Hosting.com dedicated

#1

Has anyone done this?

I am just wondering if it requires a huge move?

Depends on what you have to move (files, email, database ?)

You will have to setup everything right on your server before.

But take a dedicated server only if you know how to use and manage it.

Regardless of what kind of host you had before, a file is a file, and a database is a database. Let us know what sort of stuff you have to move. If there are no database export/import issues involved, it’s really no big deal. I’ve done it a few times, and I do not claim to be a Web guru.

Huge? Well, I had five databases to bring over, and it really came out pretty well. I made a couple of simple mistakes that, with a little help from DreamHost, I was able to resolve quickly.

People are here to help. Just tell us what you have to do.
