Move domain and multiple subdomains to Dreamhost

#1

I have decided to move all of my websites to Dreamhost, and I am, in a word, terrified. I don’t have a ton of sites (maybe 2 dozen), but I’m used to cPanel so the setup here is confusing to me.

I currently have 1 main domain with my own business site on it. That domain contains my current customer websites in the form of cPanel “add-on” domains, which I understand Dreamhost does not distinguish. However, these add-on domains also show up in the form of subdomains under my main site.

How do I go about moving all this data to Dreamhost? Do I start with each subdomain, or do I start with the main domain first? I keep seeing things in the forums about A records, cloaking, and DNS but I know very little about these.

Part II of my question is, how do I set up my sites so that I can see them all in Dreamweaver at once? Currently when in Dreamweaver I see my main public_html with all my sites as subfolders of that. Can I do this with Dreamhost?

Our C-Panel importer has 2 different options you can try - the first would be to supply the cpanel login info and let it try to grab everything, or you can create backups from within cpanel first and import that file. Databases will need to be transferred separately, below I’ve included a few wiki links - of course you can always contact our support team here http://inv.lv/xplNd3 for more detailed help with your account.

Thanks Matt C! Your advice has me pointed in the right direction. I am still working on it, but looks like it’ll be OK.
