Mobile compatibility

Hi,

Does anybody know a way to automatically determine if the user is accessing a site from a computer or a mobile device?

This would prevent the user from having to load the first page that would be set for a computer and having to click the mobile link.

Thanks a lot for any help.

A properly constructed web page should be accessible to both normal user agents and handheld devices without the need to resort to a separate page. Sadly, mobile devices rarely support the CSS type of media=“handheld”. You are, therefore, forced to rely on browser sniffing to achieve your objective. Examine the HTTP response for a user agent string, and use some conditional logic to feed an appropriate page.
