Mirrored websites. How do PHP and stats work?

Hi all,

If I mirror a website, is there a separate access.log, or does the mirror actually forward the requests to the main website?

Also, the website I am mirroring has a PHP script on it (just a simple mail form). Will this work?
I can imagine it would if the mirror works by forwarding requests, but not if it actually tries to keep a copy of the main website.

To answer my own questions (for the benfit of anyone else), mirroring appears to just forward all requests, so the main website access log is updated when accessing the mirror and my PHP works!
