MediaWiki is slow

Thanks to the help of several, I now have MediaWiki running. It will be fun to learn MediaWiki and wiki’s in general.

Question: MediaWiki seems awfully slow. What is to blame? DreamHost? The PHP code?

Any fixes? Anyone tried any of the accellerators?

It’s the code. Mediawiki is slow everywhere. I’m working on a site using it and it’s even slow when it runs on my local machine.

Ironically, wiki is Hawaiian for quick.
