Mail vs. Maildir in shell acct?

Curious whay I have both of these? ~/Maildir is obviously where all of my mail is being delivered; and ~/mail is an empty directory. Is there any reason why this is there?

It’s created by default when your home directory is setup. That’s where mail subfolders used to go before we switched to Maildir format. You can safely ignore or remove it.

Thanks… I figured it was something along those lines; when it was empty and the last mod time was August of last year (vs. today for Maildir), then I figured I’d make it go bye-bye!
