Mail to Hotmail addresses bounced

#1

Whenever I try to send an email to a Hotmail address I get the following message:

host mx3.hotmail.com[65.54.244.200] said: 550 SC-004 Mail
rejected by Windows Live Hotmail for policy reasons. A block has been
placed against your IP address because we have received complaints
concerning mail coming from that IP address. If you are not an
email/network admin please contact your E-mail/Internet Service Provider
for help. Email/network admins, we recommend enrolling in our Junk E-Mail
Reporting Program (JMRP), a free program intended to help senders remove
unwanted recipients from their e-mail list: http://postmaster.live.com (in
reply to MAIL FROM command)

How do I fix it?

Submit a ticket to Support with all this info. It’s not an uncommon problem.

yeah well it’s not an uncommon problem with dreamhost but it is with every other email service i’ve ever used. i’ve been with dreamhost for almost 10 years and i stopped counting the amount of times they’ve been blacklisted by other ISPs… in that same 10 years i’ve never had any blacklisting problems with any other email provider.

a provider only gets blacklisted when they are a source of spam and unfortunately dreamhost doesn’t seem to care about trying to prevent spam on their servers because if they did then we wouldn’t be blocked right now.
