Mail.dreamhost.com cert doesn't match

#1

I access mail with mozilla, via mail.mydomain.com, but the SSL certificate is signed by mail.dreamhost.com. Mozilla prompts everytime I check mail, with no options to save the preference. Is there a way to install a self-signed cert on mail.mydomain.com without spening the $100+ to buy a cert from dreamhost’s provider?

Unfortunately only one SSL certificate at a time can be used with the SSL IMAP/POP server so you can’t add your own for that. You can add your own self-signed certificate for your website, though.

Is there a solution? Can you enable mail access from mail.dreamhost.com or another machine with a proper cert?

No, there is no solution at this time. Some other IMAP clients will allow you to accept the certificate and not ask you for confirmation every time so that may be an option you want to look into if you don’t like clicking ‘ok’ every time.
