Safari is indeed the default browser on the Mac (although a lot of us use Firefox too and several other browsers, including Opera, OmniWeb, Camino, which is a Firefox variant that's Mac OS X only), and with an estimated 3-4% of the online market these days, you are going to want to make sure it's compatible, because it's based on an open-source project that includes Linux browsers too.
