Over 24hrs and no reply from Support, so I’m aksing here if anyone knows anything about this. Am I the only one to have been hit by it?

Loss of all quarantined messages older than 2 days from ff@f.ch

Today (2005-03-11) I find all quarantined messages in mailbox “ff” on
mail.chrisjj.com older than 2 days have gone missing, leaving the oldest
dated 2005-03-10:

chrisjjdhjf@clara.co.uk Thu 03/10 21:42 =?utf-8?B?cGljdHVyZXM=?=

despite webmail Option:

How long should mail stay in the quarantine before being automatically
removed? Currently: 30 Days

What’s up?

Chris

I believe they switched over to the new DB server for the quarantined email on 3/10 (hence he downtime announcement). All email older than 3/10 is lost.

Thanks, but what downtime annoucement? I see no announcement dated 10th March, nor any announcement mentioning databases since 2nd March.

I find it hard really to believe DH would throw away users unread mail, let alone with no warning.

Brief network outage (Downtime)

Posted: Mar 9th, 2005 - 10:46:08 PM PST (2 days 12 hours ago)

While trying to add a new chunk of network space to our network, we inadvertantly misconfigured some of the access controls, taking down the entire network briefly. Luckily, we were smart enough to schedule a router reboot before making the changes, so everything was back up with a known-good configuration within about 8-10 minutes.

Happy DreamHost Routing Team!

I’m on the east coast, so for me it was on the 10th…

That’s merely a network outage, nothing remotely suggesting a permanent loss of user data.

Support’s response, for anyone who’s interested:

Sorry about that. When I made lots of big backend changes late last
week your old quarantined data got unassociated from your mailbox.

You now have all 500 some spammy spams sitting there waiting for your
perusal.
