Linking images from FTP to CSS file

design

#1

I was wondering, how do I link an image from my FTP file directory to a CSS file?

CSS would actually be calling the image, but the image has to be accessible to it.

Here’s an example setup:

/home/user/site.com/style.css
/home/user/site.com/image.jpg

If I wanted image.jpg to be the background of every page using style.css, I do this:

body
{
background-image:url('/image.jpg');
background-color:#cccccc;
}

That says ‘Go to the top level of my website and show image.jpg.’

Does that help?

Yes it does, thank you very much!

Mentioned in several earlier posts before, but always good to know again is this website:
http://www.w3schools.com/css/default.asp (for css tutorial) or
http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp (for any tutorial)

I personally learned a lot from that website.
Maybe Dreamhost should link it somewhere in the forum, always in view.
