Link domainname to a domain

#1

Hi all,

I just registered a domainname (www.example.com) and want to link it to a domain I created previously (username.dreamhosters.com). I see the domainname under registrations but cannot point it to my username.dreamhosters.com.

To make things clear: when a user goes to www.example.com, the username.dreamhosters.com page should be shown but with www.example.com in the browser address.

Thanks in advance
Stijn

I usually create the new domain (www.example.com) with the same user as the dreamhosters.com website.

Then I log in using FTP or Shell, delete the newly added www.example.com folder and rename the dreamhosters folder to www.example.com (You can just use the remap subdirectory tool, but that just maps it, it doesn’t change the name).

That way pretty much instantly www.example.com now has all the content of the dreamhosters site. You can also change the dreamhosters domain to a redirect and point it to the new www.example.com domain, then you’re covered if anyone goes to the old site.
