Limit Access

#1

I’m having bulletin board software installed on my domain by a third party. Does anyone know if it’s possible to create a user so that access is limited to the ‘bulletin boards’ folder? I don’t want to lay all of my site open!

Thanks,

How about creating a new sub-domain for the forum and grant the user access to the sub-domain only?

That’s probably the best way to go. You’ll notice that the forum here is at ‘discussion.dreamhost.com’ rather than a subdirectory of the main DH site.

Also, I read in the Kbase that, while it is possible to restrict user access to a particular subdirectory, it’s probably not the way you want to go since it disables CGI and PHP-CGI, which is possibly essential to the bulletin board you want installed.

However, if that’s the way you want to go, it’s in the Kbase.
