Launching PERL From IE On Windows

#1

I have a version of PERL running on my Windows based PC. PERL came from www.activeware.com. It works just fine when I launch PERL scripts from a DOS command prompt but if I launch it from Internet Explorer I just get the text of my PERL script (not executed) in my browser window. The script works just fine when using the DreamHost interpreter but I don’t want to have to debug there.

My Test HTML Program:

Test Hello World

This is a test

End of test

My PERL Script:

#!/Perl/bin/perl -w

print <<HTML_HEAD;

Untitled HTML_HEAD

print <<END_BODY;
Hello World\r\n
END_BODY

print <<END_HTML;

END_HTML

Internet Explorer’s “View Source” contains the following:

#!/Perl/bin/perl -w

print <<HTML_HEAD;

Untitled HTML_HEAD

print <<END_BODY;
Hello World\r\n
END_BODY

print <<END_HTML;

END_HTML

to be able to display a executed PERL script on your home computer, is to have a webserver setup, AND have it configured to use PERL to interpret .cgi or .pl you can goto
appservnetwork.com they offer a full apache 1.3 OR 2.0 package with perl/php/MySQL in one installer, and its ready to go in about 5-10 min, if your trying to open the .cgi or .pl in your browser directly, its just going to display the text it reads.
