Is this possible? Wordpress mapping + Google Apps for Business

#1

I wish to use Google Apps, but I don’t want to loose my Wordpress.com mapping. Unfortunately, I don’t trust that I understand the subtleties in the language used when clicking “Add Hosting”.

If I select Google Hosted, won’t that break my Wordpress.com mapping?

If so, is there another way to have my cake and eat it too?

T.I.A.

(my domain is currently not hosted - just registered and mapped to Wordpress.com)

Wordpress.com is compatible with Google Email, so you should be able to use the rest of the apps with no problem as well! Here’s how: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/add-email/

Also, in case you’d like some more info on how our Google Hosting works: http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Google_Apps#Google_Hosted

So you are saying that when I pointed my domain name to Wordpress - Wordpress.com became my “Hosting” site and that all “features/additions” I want would initiate from there, not here. Correct?

What is your domain?

Correct  We’re your Domain Registrar. WordPress.com is your host.

And yes, if you pick Google hosting, you’ll move off wordpress.com  We don’t want that. What you just need is to hook up Google Apps, and that is (generally) done by adding in email:

Also check out http://wp.tutsplus.com/tutorials/hosting/connecting-a-wordpress-domain-to-google-apps/ for a good tutorial. Once you set up email, then you have access to the rest of the apps.

Aha! The light bulb moment! Thank you very much for providing that for me.

I should be fine from here. Thank you for the links, they’re just what I need.
