Installing drupal 6 in a new account

#1

I am a new user of Dreamhost, and I have read that Drupal is supported. But i cannot go further than the “Database configuration”. I insert the data, I press “Save and continue” and it appears Database configuration again.
I’d like to be helped.

I don’t have much experience with Drupal. It looks quite straight forward according to wikil
http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Drupal

If that is not working for you, I’ll suggest you to contact DH support.

It has been a while since I have installed drupal 6 anywhere but I’m pretty sure I know the problem you are having. One of the instructions states to copy default.settings.php to settings.php. You may have interpreted this instruction to RENAME the file but that would be WRONG. You have to have BOTH default.settings.php AND settings.php in your sites/default directory

That is in the install guide on the drupal website. Too bad I had been trying to figure this out many moons ago without looking there. Took me a couple of weeks lol. Talk about having a duh moment.

Just started using Dreamhost, still need to learn more about this…but I think it will be easy coz there been much information I’ve been getting through the net and here in the forum…

have you tried installing drupal yet? avoid using the one-click install as the only option is easy mode (meaning you cannot modify files yourself). doing the install yourself is definitely the way to go if you want to be able to customize your site

i am always willing to provide feedback should you run into any trouble. good luck with your endeavors.
