Inform your visitors to update their browser!

Don’t you hate it when your regular visitors are using Firefox 1.0.7 or IE 5.5? Why would they want to use such old, insecure browsers?

Help them out with some Javascript (if they have Javascript disabled, then you can assume they know what they are doing  )

Paste this wherever you want the message to appear. AND UPDATE THE VERSION NUMBERS EVERY 6 months or so!

Nice idea, although this can be cleaned up quite a bit. However, I’m too tired right now to clean it up. Maybe somebody here can pretty it up some.

Basically, the best way to do this is mimic the Firefox window block bar. Just put up a yellow bar at the top of your site saying X browser is updated and directing them to update. Off a close box that will close the alert forever.

yerba# rm -rf /etc

UPDATE! The first version had a small conflict with some variable names in Invisionboard forums Posting topic screens, so it needed to be changed a bit and I put it in a function as well. Only affected Internet Explorer though (damn IE!!).
