Here’s a link for initial setup:

I use Transmit (by Panic software), but Filezilla is free.

If you’ve already built your site on your local computer, use one of the above clients to upload your files.

Depending on what you want your site to do, I highly recommend the One-Click installs. I use WordPress for a bunch of stuff. It does very well even for non-blog type sites.

Reading your latest post about cutting your losses doesn’t make much sense. There isn’t much out there that’s easier than DreamHost’s One-Click installs, nor more powerful than DreamHost’s shell access. It covers the full spectrum.

don’t give up. it takes patience. first off what sort of ftp program are you using? secondly, have you been able to log into your dreamhost account using said ftp program. if you’ve gotten that far that’s most of the battle. how did you make your website? were you using some sort of gui editor like dreamweaver (or any type of page making program) or did you code it by hand? next, i am sure you have a file named index.html (or .htm, .php or the like). if you used a page builder along with that you probably have some images or folders that were generated. give me a response and i will try to give you advice on what to do next.

Helping isn’t a waste of my time. Which FTP client are you using? For starters, you can try WebFTP from the panel under Domains -> Manage Domains. Make sure you already have that user set up and have the password. This is not the same username and password you use to log into the panel.

I got caught on that when I first switched to DreamHost. I had assumed an FTP account would be set up using the main account info.
