Identifying awry processes

I have a PS on which I run multiple installations of WordPress. The memory usage (as determined by the line graphs on my admin panel’s “Manage Resources” pane) is usually below 300 MB, but occasionally it spikes to 1500, bringing all my sites to a screeching halt. Even during such an occasion, my uptime is this:

06:34:21 up 17:34, 1 user, load average: 0.47, 0.87, 0.71

That doesn’t seem accurate to me. Regardless, is there a way to determine what script is process is eating so much memory? If it’s a single WP plugin gone awry, I’d like to know to disable it and prevent future such spikes.

You could ask Support to run procwatch or similar on your server for a day or two and see what it comes up with.
