I uploaded .htaccess and lost original - how to recover

#1

Hi,

I uploaded .htacces to ftp, to avoid maximum xml modifcation (I want to import another site’s content with lots of posts, almost 200Mb)

http://www.content.after5pc.net/how-to-import-a-large-wordpress-xml-file-and-override-the-default-limits/144.html

with only
#set max upload file size
php_value upload_max_filesize 200M

#set max post size
php_value post_max_size 200M

I thought it wasn’t there because I didn’t see in the dreamhost ftp. But later saw that ftp doesnt’ show hidden files. I entered with filezilla and there it is wihtn oly these lines.

But…there was already a .htaccess file and I overwrited it, right??? Can you confirm, please? Using WordPress 3.5.1.

The site seems operative, but I guess I’ll have to upload the original file (with the addition), if there was one.

Thanks in advance

I believe there’s a page in the WordPress admin area that’ll regenerate the Wordpress .htaccess for you.

Thanks, I’ll search it. But seems there’s no problem; .htacces seems it’s only there if I modify permalinks, right?

Correct. If you’re not using pretty permalinks (e.g, if your Wordpress URLs all have “index.php” in them), nothing is required in .htaccess.

Perfect. Thanks!
