My daughter send me the e-mail below but I don’t know were to go to get the CNAME for her website that is hosted on my account with DreamHost. And yes this is not what I want to be doing with my time…crap… I’ve forgotten more about computers that most people will ever know and I’d love to forget the rest.

hey dad,

since i can’t use golive anymore (lost my password), i’m trying to register my site with iweb to see if i can edit it that way … here’s my next step in the process:

• Go to your registrar’s website. Define web.me.com as the “www” CNAME (alias) for your domain.

If you need help creating a CNAME, contact your registrar.

basically, i need to know the registrar’s website url …

thanks dad! i know this isn’t necessarily what you want to do with your time!

If you registered your domain name in DH, you can edit CNAME via DH panel --> Domains --> Manage Domains --> DNS. Please make sure you understand what you are doing before you change anything

Apple is in the process of discontinuing MobileMe and transitioning users to iCloud. If you and your daughter are able to get this working now be aware that the “iWeb Publishing” service will end 6/30/2012. http://www.apple.com/mobileme/transition.html

One answer for your daughter might be to use iWeb to publish her site via dreamhost. see http://wiki.dreamhost.com/Iweb
