The info makes clear that users can create/edit .htaccess files, but that doesn’t reveal much.

Question is, what overrides are allowed/denied in httpd.conf, apache2.conf, or whatever?

Also, while I presume that users can’t edit the conf file, do they have read permission? If my present host allowed httpd.conf to be read, I could have reduced my demand on support staff time by 90% and had better outcomes.

We do not allow read access to our httpd.conf files as it can present a security problem on a shared server.

If you have CGI enabled on your domain we allow you to override every setting that can be done via a .htaccess file. ( AllowOverride All )
