.htaccess redirect - I think I messed up

#1

Ok, so this is the story:

I’m moving my site from www.sitename.com/ to www.sitename.com/home/ and going from there. I have everything in place but when I went to edit the htaccess file with a 301 redirect I’m getting a
This webpage has a redirect loop.

The webpage at http://www.sitename.com/home/home/home/home/home/home/home/home/home/home/ has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.
I’ve deleted the 301 redirect from the htaccess but I’m still getting that message. Can anyone help with getting it right again?

Don’t use a 301. It’s much easier to go to the DreamHost panel for Manage Domains and click Edit for that domain and change the Web directory from /home/USER/example.com to /home/USER/example.com/home

And then edit any full path URLs in your site to reflect that /home is now just /

As for why it’s still giving that message, I’d guess it’s a caching issue.
