.htaccess problem with awstats and wordpress

wordpress

Hi,
the wiki
http://wiki.dreamhost.com/index.php/Making_stats_accessible_with_htaccess
explain how to access “stats” when you install wordpress.
I’ve installed wordpress on my subdomain.xxx.com.
I followed that example and added my awstats subdir too, the problem is that my stats doesn’t have icons and if I try to see them by hand with the browser (by entering in icons/xxxx/xx.jpg) I get sent to the wordpress page…

Why? I thought that all files under that dir were Ok…
here is the rule

RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} ^/(stats|awstats|failed_auth.html)/?(.)$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^.
$ - [L]

Solved.
It turned out that I was looking into the wrong place.
That .htaccess is 100% correct.
The .htaccess inside awstats directory was wrong.
