Htaccess/htpsswd files

#1

Hi all,

I am looking to password protect one of my directories, and have read through the wiki and several websites about using htaccess/htpsswd files. I feel like I have successfully completed this per the instructions, but I’m stuck on something seemingly simple. On the Dreamhost wiki, it advises copying the passwd file to /home/username (I am replacing username with my own) directory, but when I enter this into ftp I get “failed to retrieve directory.” I see only a root directory labeled with “…” and subdirectories for my domain, logs and maildir. WARNING: I am a novice, no programming experience!

Thanks, Josie

Hi Josie!

If you can see your log and domain.tld directories, then you are at /home/username
