How to point http://www.domain.com/ to http://www.domain.com/index.html

Is there a way to point all requests of http://www.domain.com/ to http://www.domain.com/index.html?

I tried this in my .htaccess file, according to the wiki
Options -indexes +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule . /index.html [L]
ErrorDocument 404 /error.html

But I get a 500 error. It looks like I can’t use the magic error pages. Is there a way to do both? Thanks.

Trying too hard.

RedirectMatch ^/$ http://www.domain.com/index.html

Thanks for that information.

I changed the RedirectMatch to apply to any subdirectory I have.
RedirectMatch (.*)/$ $1/index.html
