I have some PHP scripts that require ioncube loader but haven’t been able to get it installed on my dreamhost account.

I found a few old threads around this forum but none of the provided methods work, so if anyone has a contemporary solution for getting ioncube loader installed please do share

TIA!

I’m not familiar with that software, sorry… What errors do you see? If this is software you licensed, did it come with instructions or some support?

Instructions are here:

https://www.ioncube.com/loaders.php

I upload the files to my domain root as it describes and hit mydomain.com/ioncube/loader-wizard.php

I see some progress happening, things look hopeful, then I land on an error page that has a few manual steps to try and fix things which I run through. After those are all clear I’m still left with the following message

There are the following potential problems:

The file /home/gridwalk/codame.dreamhosters.com/ioncube/php.ini is not being recognised by PHP. Please check that the name and location of the file are correct.

The file /home/gridwalk/codame.dreamhosters.com/php.ini is not being recognised by PHP. Please check that the name and location of the file are correct. It looks as if ini files are not being recognised in any of the standard locations in your webspace.

Please contact your hosting provider to check whether you can create your own PHP ini file and where it should go.

Any insight? Thanks so much!

Hi Codame,

Biggest issue most people run into is the version of PHP they are using, We have an install guide here: https://help.dreamhost.com/hc/en-us/articles/214897027-Enabling-ionCube-Loader

Thanks!

This is the important piece of information. DreamHost needs a file called phprc instead of php.ini. The article that @DH_Matt_C shared has links to detailed instructions.
