How to get versions of MySQL and PHP, etc

#1

My account is www.tompotika.org
My server is columbine.dreamhost.com

I am posting to a support forum and need to tell them:

  • Is MySQL up to date (at least 5.2.4)?
  • Is PHP up to date (at least 5.0)?
  • Is the mod_rewrite Apache module activated?
  • Is PHP Safe Mode OFF?

So rather than ask for these four fish, would you please coach me on how to fish for them?

Thank you!

You can check your panel for PHP. Go to https://panel.dreamhost.com/index.cgi?tree=domain.manage& and click on ‘edit’ (I see you’re on 5.3). The lowest we offer is 5.2 though, so you should be okay anyway!

MySQL is on at least 5.0, the exact version varies, but it should be compatible with just about anything.

Mod_rewrite is always on, safe mode is off.

You may also wish to create a page on your site called phpinfo.php
with the following code:

<?php // Show all information, defaults to INFO_ALL phpinfo(); ?>

If saved to your domain root you then visit the page example.com/phpinfo.php
