when i told my friend to visit my site, he saw “Index of/” and a list of folder (thats because i dont have index.) but, strange that he can exlpore my folders, even install the wordpress (its just there, i havent installed it yet) but he can. Is there an option so other ppl cant access my http file index and explore my folders?

thanks

You need to create a file called “.htaccess” and place this line of text in it:

Options -Indexes

Then upload the .htaccess file to your website. The exact folder to place it in is:
/home/your_username/yourdomain.com/

That will stop people from being able to browse your folders. If you can’t or don’t want to create an .htaccess file yourself, you can download one here: noindexes.zip

i just create an index page with a 0 second redirect to route them back to my homepage

the HTAccess inferface on your control panel is also helpful if you just dont want them to access the folder period

i prefer the first thing though to keep them where they should be
