Help on Installing SpamAssassin 3.1.7

#1

I was looking for an alternative to the spamassassin installed in the webservers as for the last couple weeks it’s catching half of my real mail and nearly none of the spam (being configured to 1 & 1 for the last couple days - with spam still coming through that). I’ve found mention of SpamAssassin 3.1.x on the boards so went to the wiki to learn more. I found this article in wiki and This guide it references.

I’m not quite clear on how to start (My guess is this falls under the basic understanding of Linux, which I don’t have). I disabled the filters and enabled shell from my control panel, but it’s when I get to step three I get confused. Where am I to type the commands?

Also, I don’t have a .promailrc file. How do I go about making one?

It would be greatly appreciated if you could point me in the correct direction. Thanks!

In the shell, accessed with SSH.

Edit a text file with your favorite text editor, on your PC or server.
