I was wondering if it’s allowed to install Hamachi on my shared hosting (if it’s even possible), as a replacement for (S)FTP. I couldn’t find anything on the wiki or forums, and I guess asking doesn’t hurt.

Unless you have a private server (or a DreamHost-PS account), you will not be able to run Hamachi. It requires a persistent process and also keeps a port connection open persistently.

Does Hamachi even run under Debian?

Finally, it’s not clear to me whether you really want the entire server to have VPN access to your network.
