Google Maps API

#1

I created a simple page in front page and uploaded to dreamhost. In one page I am using a google map. You need to register for a map key from google which I have done but every time the map page displays I get 'the API key used on this web site was registered for a different web site"
When you register for the key it asks for your url and I type http://www.cousineau.name.
Does dreamhost send some other kind of URL to google? When I am in the FTP site I notice they have root/cousineau.name. Do I need to add root to my URL when I register at google maps? Thanks for any help in advance.

No, you need to check your source. It’s what you get for using Microsoft FrontPage 5.0, hehe.

You have to include a JavaScript from maps.google.com - but guess what - you got the URL munged somehow.

Instead of

?file=api&v=2&key=you have

?file=api&v=2&key=Ooops. The difference means that Google Maps doesn’t see your key at all. The error message is a bit misleading. It should say “There was no key provided.”
