Ftp weirdness

#1

Curious to know if anyone else is having this problem: I can ftp into my account fine from the Mac OS X Finder, but I only have read access – I can’t upload anything. I can’t ftp into the account using a couple of different ftp clients (I get generic errors) and I can’t upload files via the web-based ftp service because they’re too large. I checked the directory permissions by connecting through Terminal, and I am supposed to have read/write/execute privileges, but that doesn’t seem to be the case in practice.

Even odder, this problem persists on other computers running Mac OS X, but a colleague was able to ftp in and upload from a Windows machine. Is there some setting I need to change on a Mac in order to enable ftp file transfers?

That’s normal. Finder FTP doesn’t allow uploading. You’ll have to use a regular FTP client, or DreamHost’s net2ftp web interface.
