Formmail.cgi "required" fails

#1

Anyone else find that the formmail.cgi “required” option gives a “The following fields were left blank in your submission form:” result falsely e.g. when the field is non-blank?

E.g. the code below, almost verbatim from DH docs, with the input “not blank” gives:

The following fields were left blank in your submission form:
email

If so, what’s the best/simplest workaround? Thanks.

Chris

DH test - fails with false “email is empty”

Form, source from

https://panel.dreamhost.com/kbase/index.cgi?area=681&keyword=formmail

Prompt the visitor for his/her email address (which you can reply to):

Specify any fields that you wish to be required in order to process the form submission. If the user does not fill in a required field, they will receive an error message with a link back to the form. The input names must be specified as a comma-seperated list in the hidden field’s value attribute.
