FindBin.pm and permissions

I’m running a configuration script for use with the Template Toolkit. This script uses the Perl FindBin module to determine the full path to itself. It’s giving me the following error: opendir(./…/…): Permission denied at /usr/share/perl/5.6.1/FindBin.pm line 143

Near as I can tell, its a permissions problem due to the fact that, while I can read /home, and see all the symlinks to the actual directories, I can’t read the actual hidden directory where my home directory resides: /home/.namu

Has anyone had similar experience with this and maybe found a workaround? Is it worth logging a support ticket to see if they’ll grant read permissions on that folder?
