Error when trying to import SQL database

#1

I am trying to import an MySQL database but I’m getting an error. I exported it using cPanel on another host, so I have the file on my computer now. When I go to upload it using these instructions I get this error:

I’m wondering how to fix it. Also, when I go to mysql.mydomain.com and login, I get this (which may or may not be related):

Can anyone let me know what I’m doing wrong? I’m very new to all this so I’m a bit confused as to what I’m doing.

Both errors are the result of the fact that, on Dreamhost, user cannot create databases except via the control panel. The user can, however, create tables within an existing database.

My suggestion to work around this problem is to create the (empty) database via the Dreamhost Control Panel (Goodies, MySQL, etc.), then modify your sql file to eliminate the “create database” step, leaving the statements necessary to add the table in the file.

Each of the messages you received are the result of trying to via create a new database (via PhpMyAdmin, etc.), which your user is not allowed to do.

If this information isn’t sufficiently helpful to you, you might want to do a little research on the Dreamhost wiki for additional help and information about MySql of Dreamhost, then post again with a more specific question. Good Luck!

Thank you very much for your help. After creating the database prior to importing (from cPanel), and removing the “create database” step from the sql file, everything worked.
